my plan is to go to an latin american country. I figure I know Spanish. So, that's one problem out of the way. And you're puerto rican. So we can go together. To Peru?

ALL stressors are avoidable. How much are you willing to sacrifice in the process?

In response to the rest of the entry, selfishness is a basic human instinct. A necessary one.

Are you joining the Peace Corps to satisfy your own personal guilt or do you feel an honest urge to help those in need? If it's the former, then it's just a different kind of selfish.

If it's the latter, then we need more people like you.

If it were to satisfy my own guilt, I'd be content just thinking about it and saying, well, I considered it. I've done my part by acknowledging the presence of the less fortunate.

That's just not me.

Glad I could help with your relationship deal. It's good to know that people not only read what I write, but they relate to it as well. It makes me feel like this is semi-productive. And thanks. I'm looking forward to it. They require a four year degree as part of the application. I'm just hoping that I don't work through four years of nursing or education with my heart set on this only to have my application declined.
