Lately, I keep seeing a handful of spelling and grammar errors pop up all over the internet. And, I'm not the only one noticing them; I've discussed this with people in a few different places now, but it's usually in comments on a journal entry that has little or nothing to do with the topic, and that's solving nothing. Well, everybody's got something they can't quite remember. Maybe you'll get that now without realizing it, and maybe you won't; it's possible that somebody's doing it without even being aware, and this could help.

I've been saying that, if this prevents just one listed error from occurring, it was worth it! :D

Good / Well... queeneamidala13 July 1 2010, 20:40:30 UTC
Another thought...

I've seen good / well misused a lot. I don't know if you want to add this to the list, but it might be helpful.

Good is an adjective. It describes nouns or pronouns. It may be used with descriptive linking verbs like look, feel, sound, taste, or be to describe the subject.

Incorrect: The coffee tasted well this morning.

Correct: The coffee tasted good this morning.

Correct: The pitcher is looking good today.

Well is normally an adverb. It describes verbs (sometimes adjectives) and is used with most other verbs.

Well as an adjective means "healthy."

Incorrect: He pitches good.

Correct: He pitches well.

Incorrect: I do not feel very good.

Correct: I do not feel very well. (healthy)

Good thought! ;)

That's one I tend to misuse in speech, mostly when answering a question about how I'm doing, and it gets me when I hear myself do it.
