Since baronsamdi suggested it, I used one of my ill-gotten pumpkins to make this in-pumpkin fondue. I was concerned about the pumpkin not really being an "eating" pumpkin and, once I started cutting into it, about it not being ripe enough but it turns out that these concerns were all totally groundless. Survived first dentist appointment in almost three years (oops) and have won the tooth lottery! I get to keep all my teeth as they are for at least the next six months!
Also, no, I am not a smoker. I am a tea drinker. It's COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. Jeez. -

Have thrown caution to the wind and made two batches of jam simultaneously. Used separate pots so as to increase chances of proper gel, since the decreased attention-paying is probably disadvantage enough. I used 28 figs for that batch of jam (1 batch appears to be about 3 pints and you can't increase batch size because then it won't gel correctly).
This morning we picked 111 figs. One hundred and eleven. I need a lot more sugar. And rubber gloves. -

Of course it was nice and rainy the whole time I was here but as soon as I left town for 10 days, the drought kicked in. A few things are already dead. Now the soaker hose attached to the rain barrel doesn't want to work!
