This year's big seed experiment is alpine strawberries. Assuming I can get them to germinate and that at least some of them survive the various dreaded threats to seedlings, they are supposed to be winter hardy and should have a reasonably good crop the second year. Undertook the first of the cherry blossom rituals last night: EPR + nighttime walk. Am quite upset to find that the National Park Service is undertaking an aggressive Cherry Blossom Fever Abatement program this year. The census is really starting to piss me off. We have received a letter urging us to complete and return the survey promptly, a postcard recommending places to get help, countless TV and radio requests to fill it out, and a warning on the survey envelope that our submission is REQUIRED BY LAW ( Read more... ) -

I was looking for a travel alarm clock last night at Target. Was unsatisfied by the options. Eventually realized that I was doing it the completely stupid way. What the hell do I need a travel alarm clock for? The right answer is DIGITAL WATCH. -

FINALLY managed to hear last weekend's Wait Wait with TMBG on the "not my job" segment. Some weirdness caused whatever part of the site colinmac was looking at to keep claiming the show still wasn't available more than 24 hours after the estimated availability. I mostly welcome our potential snowy doom. An excuse to sit at home, watch TV and do fiber crafts! Hooray!
I don't relish having to shovel on Sunday so that I can get the car back on the road for Monday. NOT shovelling in winter is one of the things that makes the horrible horrible summer weather psychologically bearable.
