plant = sponge?

I have one spot at the base of my driveway where a puddle of water collects. Without getting into a long-winded description of why, suffice it to say, there isn't a cheap way to fix it.

Are there any plants that just loooove to soak up water? I'd like it to drink my puddle.

Willows will do the trick. Or shrubby dogwoods. If there are water or sewer lines nearby, though, willows might be a bad idea - super greedy roots!

Another vote for willows. there are many varieties, but they all love water and can soak up a serious amount.

Thanks. It's my first home and I'm clueless. :P

I'm really trying to avoid invasive species and pick plants that are natural to the PacNW.

I don't know what hardiness zone you're in, but if you're in zone 4 or higher, you might want to consider Japanese Iris or Louisiana Iris. Both of these love muddy spots, they bloom, they won't invade underground pipes, and they are non-invasive. The Louisiana Iris are hybrids of native American iris found growing east of the Mississippi River and they are quite tough.
