Kanaya? Are you there? Please pick up if you are. [There is more than a little worry in Lloyd's voice. His heart is pounding with dread as he waits for an answer. Someone had told him she was dead. That can't be true. It just can't.]
Yeah. She said that other guy was dead, too. [Despite the fact that he wouldn't necessarily want Eridan dead, he can't keep a flicker of irritation off his face.] Eradin. That guy you're living with.
[He still can't understand how she can stand to live with him.]
[Then Lloyd probably really wouldn't like to hear that Kanaya and Eridan are moirails (or non-sexual soulmates, for those not versed in troll romance) now.]
[Yyeaaah, no, he'd probably boggle at her. Seriously, Eridan had been a jerk to her when Lloyd had been at their house. Who'd want a soulmate like that?
He glances at her, though, irritation gone and his expression more subdued. He shakes his head.]
She said you were murdered. Both of you. But she didn't know who killed you.

[There she is, on your video screen, decidedly not dead. She's worried, though, after seeing the expression on your face.]
Is everything all right?
Reply
Kanaya. You're all right.
[Then he looks more closely at her, searching.]
I was worried. Did anything... happen to you?
Reply
[You're confusing her now, Lloyd.]
Reply
[Still so relieved.]
I'm glad she was wrong.
Reply
[Slight smile, even though she's upset.]
I'm glad she was wrong too. And it's good talking to you again.
[She was afraid you wouldn't want to be friends anymore after last time.]
Reply
[He smiles, starting to relax a little. He never held Eridan's behavior against her. She wasn't the one who had been a jerk, after all.]
It's good to talk to you again, too. I was going to call you earlier, but... [He sheepishly rubs the back of his neck.] Stuff happened.
Reply
[This would explain the bizarre behavior from both her and Karkat. Kanaya makes a mental note to talk this over with them later.]
That's fine, Lloyd, I understand. I have been rather busy myself.

[He still can't understand how she can stand to live with him.]

Oh no! Did she say what happened!

Oh.
[Small voice now.]
So I guess that's what happens to us in the Veil...
Reply
Oh man, Lloyd is so lucky he has no troll crushes right now.]
The Veil? What's that?
Reply
The Veil is where I was before I came to Somarium. It's where all the trolls were. And we were just... waiting, there.
[Waiting to die, so it's not all that surprising to hear that she was killed there. Still upsetting, though.]
Reply
What were you waiting for?
Reply
[Said with a defensive amount of flippancy.]
