I used to be obsessed with Rainbow Brite when I was a kid. My entire room was nothing but Rainbow Brite, the walls, bed spread, clothes, everything...Every toy that had anything to do with R.B. I had. Ahhh, the memories.
The helicopter rocked slightly as the rotors took the weight from the wheels then lifted into the air. As the G-Forces lessened, the rotor noise settled from a violent clapping sound to a hum and a whistle. It could be felt now more as a cosntant pressure on the side of my head than as a noise.
I looked around at the melee inside the back of the aircraft. Four stretchers were laid out with a man on each. Medics were crouded round the first three, but no-one was attending the fourth. Turning my back to the empty blackness beyond the open rear door, I sat on the ramp, at the head of the stretcher and started a primary examination of the casualty.
In what limited moonlight we had, I could see that his head was bandaged, and that he was still breathing. A breif search showed he had now cat bleeds. With a little luck, I thought, he might survive long enough to get to hospital, into the hands of the surgeons. ...
