I have a not-very-secret vain streak a mile long. I'm going to indulge it.

Simple curtains make for a really easy sewing project, I say do it! The only annoying thing is working with so much fabric - other than that it's generally straight lines. Nice fabric!

By clunky and old-timey, what sort of era are we talking? I could see some old furniture going well especially with that green pattern, it's quite traditional. Take an old-fashioned chair, slap a crazy paint color or new upholstery on it, you never know... x

that fabric almost feels too pretty to work with! and you're right, traditional furniture would work well with the green print. the Salvos and St Vincent's always seem to have a surplus of interesting old-fashioned chairs, but we just don't have space for any in our apartment, at least right now.

I don't know what era it would be exactly, but I see a lot of furniture you would expect to find in someone's grandparents' house out in the country. bulky and utilitarian, not graceful at all, and a lot of it is stained orange-red. (it's not the natural color of the timber.) I wanted a nightstand that wasn't a bulky little $150 chest of drawers, and finally went with this one. we liked the design, and it's holding up pretty well.
