So I think I've got half a tip shop in my apartment now. Scavenging old furniture is my latest thing, apparently. This chair was $10 at the tip and needed a new finish and upholstery. I love mustard, but it wasn't right for this, and ugh sitting on vinyl for extended periods ( Read more... )

I'm still mulling over our whirlwind North America trip. I didn't expect Willamsburg to be so low-key. I'm sure it costs more to live in Brooklyn than the fixie brigade lets on, but overall it felt less exclusive and cashed-up than hipster neighborhoods in Melbourne and Auckland. I'm spoiled for music lately. Didn't think I'd ever say that here, but there it is. We had Falls over New Year's, where I saw two days' worth of bands two kilometers down the road from where Jamie's mum lives. It was such an agreeable experience than I'm hesitant about Coachella. Falls Festival! Five days without a shower, my new personal record. No hair product needed, I could shape my hair quite easily afterward. This pretty much sums up my attitude towards sleeping in a large paddock in country Tasmania for three nights.
