I got invited to come along and watch rugby at a pub. Lo and behold, my first proper pub crawl in this town. The other two were also non-locals, so we got to explore together. With beers. we saw the Mountain Goats this weekend and it was a compelling performance, just stories after stories being told. I think I've outgrown going to shows or something, since I only deliberately see live music about once a year these days. we're currently overlooking Cuba St in Wellington, which is analogous to Brunswick St in Melbourne, or whatever the latest rapidly gentrifying bohemian spot in your town is: consignment shops, record stores specializing in vinyl, vegan-friendly cafes, even a venue hosting the Mountain Goats next week (sweet). there's no shortage of coffee or beers ( Read more... ) -

it's nice, fixing this joint up. its made even nicer by Jamie's dad bringing over power tools. we spent all of Sunday putting up drywall in the spare bedroom. I'm still researching other means of covering or disguising the walls, because glossy white painted cinderblock feels so damn institutional.
