FF: Mommy Dearest

Fandom: Murder in Suburbia
Pairing: Ash/Scribbs
A/N: It's nearly half five in the morning and I'm surfing the big insomnia mind fatigue wave. So I doubt this makes sense. Actually, I doubt this is in English. It's just a bit of free association drivel.

I'm so very impressed that you wrote this at half-five in the morning. There are so many cute character moments. A nice wee story to go to work on!

"How about sex in the car?"

"Only if you're wearing a seat belt." - Hee!

Coherence might be difficult when you're half asleep, but for some odd reason it's very freeing on the old digits - so you type a lot, even if it doesn't necessarily make sense (another cure for writer's block *g*)

It may yet get to that stage. I have coffee and matchsticks for my eyes at the ready.

I've tasked myself to write something tonight. Whether or not I will let anyone see it is another matter.

It should probably worry me that at this time of the night you produce something that is far more coherent than most things I come up with while I'm wide awake. But it doesn't, because I loved this. Ash's so not the maternal type...good for Scribbs. Very cute ending. :)

And just a question - is saying 'half five' a British thing? It confuses me a little because in German, that would mean 4.30, but I understand it's really 5.30?

Yep. It's one of the wonders of the language divide.

'half five' in English is short hand for 'half *past* five'.

From German, I tend to back translate as 'halfway *to* five'.

Thanks.

Exactly. It's half of the fifth hour. We also say 'quarter five' for 4.15 and 'three quarters five' for 4.45, at least in my region. Other regions say 'quarter past four' and 'quarter to five', that's closer to English.

That was quite lovely.

Ash would never be able to cope with kids long term, they'd drive the neat, ordered, near-OCD part of her insane.

And, of course, Scribbs would know this was the quickest and easiest way to freak Ash out of the relationship, straight back to her. :-)

Yep. Lovely.

I wish my muse was working so well. :-/

Poor Ash, children would drive her mad. Scribbs is bad enough.

Thanks

This was great. When you were writing this, I was on my way to work, I just got home, and I'm still not awake... how you do that is beyond me.
