OMG! Don't feel bad because it really was the other dog that started it. Just because a dog is small, doesn't mean that it's allowed to be nasty with the other dogs. Dogs are going to react if provoked, and it seems to me that Chico provoked the attack by Kia. I'm glad nobody was seriously hurt, but the owner shouldn't have brought her small mean dog around the other dogs in the first place. Not many people would have offered to pay the vet bills (if it wasn't their fault), which was really nice of you since it wasn't yours or Kia's fault. I hope things don't get ugly with that owner! **hugs**
Oh no! Poor Kia and poor you. Just what you DIDN'T need huh? I know Tasha wouldn't have backed down either. I really don't see how she could have any grounds to start a lawsuit. She wasn't on her property, she stopped over with her dog and her dog was behaving aggressively. If you had brought Kia to her house and it happened there might be more danger but I really don't see how she could sue you. Hopefully you just won't hear anymore about it.
Not only that but with offering to pay for vet bills too... and witnesses to that fact... if she turned it down then she has no room to sue really. You can't just turn away someone's offer to make things right in order to go sneak around and try to get as much as you can out of them.
Reo would've probably done the same. Reo is a patient dog but sometimes the cat gets to him too much and Reo does the "quick nip" motion. If that much of a warning isn't enough he does get a little more agressive! He is a grouchy old man after all. If anything, it's Chico's momma's fault for not having control over her animal. :\
What I would like to know is if Kia had diarrhea from the Mexican food?
Seriously, I'm sorry it happened. VERY sorry. What a scary position to be in. Stupid owner, like snottiness was going to help the situation any. No wonder the chi acts the way it does.

Off topic but did you get your annual MCD Shamrock Shake (or whatever they're called)? Not sure why that popped into my head the other day -- just remembered the post about when you took Kia with you to get one.
I swear some food is laced with crack... and it's usually only the one-time-a-year stuff so that you get really, really, really addicted to it.

Yeah, she wasn't the brightest of women. :\
And to answer your question, yes, I had many Shamrock Shakes during the month of March. I'm sure they do lace them with crack. ;)
