Got final revisions from my editor for the next book. Steampunk! but it's a short deadline so we can get this Steampunk novel out in time for Westerncon next July because it's a Steampunk theme in Portland.

So I'm likely to be absent for a while. Life is like that sometimes. Hurry up so you can wait.

Enjoying the quiet of an early Monday Morning. Kids went home yesterday. The temperatures cooled nicely over night. Even Chessie is nearly comatose on the bear skin rug.

Physically I feel drained by the heat. Too listless to shower and go for a walk before it heats up. But I am enduring.

About the current heat wave? It is miserable during the day. But in my sheltered river valley the sun sets behind the ridge 45 minutes before it does in town. Most nights we cool off so we can sleep.

Otherwise I don't think I could endure. Fans going 24/7

Had a lovely time with family yesterday. Grandchildren are a blessing, mostly because at the end of the day you can give them back.

The kids should be in the motel around the corner. At 8 last night they were in K Falls. don't know why they came up the east side.

Waiting for them to rouse and then we can start the party!

Expecting family for the weekend. That means I have to CLEAN, or at least wash the floor. And I have to refill the pantry and fridge. Two growing grandsons, 8 & 14, who play hockey and are apparently bottomless pits in the food department. Off to the grocery store. and Home Despot to investigate air conditioners. We're having a heat wave. A tropical heat wave. And I'm a heat wimp. Big time. Had to close up the house shortly after 8 AM. I've done the shopping now I'm hunkered down in front of the fan and not going to come up for air until October.
