A little late this year, but better late than never!
Time for my new years meme again! Year 6 and counting. Pretty nifty if you ask me.
1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
I got fired!
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make any last year.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My cousin, Kendra did. Babies are always exciting.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
George Carlin was close to my soul! And I REALLY wanted to bone Heath Ledger from 1999-2004, so that was rather upsetting.
5. What countries did you visit?
Canada and USA
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Peace with myself and what I have going on.
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
You know, usually this isn't a hard question for me. This year didn't have any super huge milestones that I can think of off the top of my head. Breaking Dawn came out (August 4th?), but that was a whole lot of "meh." There were no Harry Potter books coming out... I'll go ahead and say April 2nd, because that is when Khaki and I saw and met Say Anything.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Having as much fun as I did in such a shitstorm. Getting a handle on drinking in moderation.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I don't know... there were a lot of failures on that path to moderation. Also, WGS 450. And the Lonestar.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
A couple of seizures, and then towards the end, I had some monster virus a-la Khaki (it was my fault), strep, and then a sinus infection all in a month. That is some kind of bullshit, believe you me.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
RENT tickets to see Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal. Or Say Anything tickets. Or Counting Crows/Maroon 5 tickets. Or the best John Mayer concert of my life tickets.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Ashley Wallis. That lady inspires me. Whether it was quitting her job because she couldn't morally reconcile what they were doing, or graduating college, I think everyone should celebrate her awesomeness, especially this year.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Sarah Palin. What an appalling, depressing idiot. Thank god we didn't elect her.
14. Where did most of your money go?
I bought a lot of alcohol this year. That's where most of it went, to be honest.
15. What did you get really excited about?
Dipping my toes into the dating pool. John Mayer with Paramore. Say Anything. My future (for the first time in a long time).
16. What song(s) will always remind you of 2008?
I Am Jen - Broken in all the right places, I Kissed a Girl by Katy Perry, Misery Business by Paramore.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you
i. happier or sadder?: happier
ii. thinner or fatter? thinner
iii. richer or poorer? poorer
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Studying
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Being a ballsack.
20. How did you spend New Year's?
Last year, I went to a party at Michelle's house. We met those boys across the hall and smoked hooka with them. Khaki and Michael were there.
This year, Khaki had a party and it was super fun. We got all dressed up, and I managed to not be a wreck, even though I spent most of the day crying because it was the first day of my period. Whoops.
22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
Nope.
24. What was your favorite TV program? of 2008?
House or It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Sarah Palin. I reconcile this because I hate Bush less, so w00t hollar.
26. What was the best book you read?
Oh man, I read a lot of really good books this year. I'm gonna go with Little Lives by John Picard, because I was so durn proud of him.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Hmmm... I don't know. I fell very much in love with Death Cab for Cutie this year.
28. What did you want and get?
Laid.
29. What did you want and not get?
Lurrrrve
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Wall-E!
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
22! Khaki, Caitlin, Ashley and I went on the boat and drank for 12 straight hours. We went to dinner to Johnny Carinos, and then nearly fell asleep on the bar at O'Malley's. Daniel was there!
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Accomplishing more in school.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Cute with a side of being a bum. Again.
34. What kept you sane?
The Khakinator, music, and getting enough sleep.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
O-bama! Yes we can! Yes we did!
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The election. See Above.
37. Who did you miss?
Lo-Ro. She should be less far away.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
That's tough. I became friends with Noelle, and we had a lot of fun.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"I'm laughing at clouds
So dark up above
The sun's in my heart
And I'm ready for love
Let the stormy clouds chase
Everyone from the place
Come on with the rain
I've a smile on my face
I walk down the lane
With a happy refrain
Just singin',
Singin' in the rain"
--Gene Kelly, Singin' in the Rain
(Although I listened to the Mint Royale version a LOT in 2008)
And if you are curious, here are the FIVE years prior...
2007! 2006! 2005! 2004! 2003!
