i just said goodbye to one of my best friends who i'll see intermittently for the next year or so. the irony is i didn't really understand how unprepared i was for this until after it occured.

Nothing ever really preprares you for separation. I cried after I got off the phone with Shaun, just for a second, and even those tears suprised me because I haven't known him for all that long.
