I'm currently putting together my syllabus for the second half of the semester, when I'll be teaching Ariel Levy's Female Chauvinist Pigs to my freshman composition class. The Spice GIrls might be a good example of the male based idea of today's feminism, but I think it might not be appropriate... actually, it might be completely appropriate because it is a good example of what women are fed to believe is "girl power" when really, it's just a bunch of guys mannipulating their image for their own benefit. It doesn't, however, deal with the oppression issue.

You're probably right about "Spice World." I'm just not sure I can sit through it for two days in class and then for a discussion!
