Awesome. I really like how you ended this. This was possibly one of your fics that I've enjoyed most (the long BSG/TNG crossover is an all-time favorite as well), because it provided all the meta and commentary on canon on top of all the great plot. What with the long gaps between posts, every time I went back to it I had to consciously remind myself that this was not canon, and all the bad things hadn't happened to Gaeta. That's pretty cool, because with the way you acknowledged canon in your story, it made it possible to draw all these direct comparisons. Not just between your AU and canon, but also between early and late BSG seasons. I think it's the only fic I've read that has made me really reconsider canon, so, kudos for that. :)
I was really hoping that it would allow people to see that there were ways that TPTB could have dug themselves out of various plot holes without sucking.
You know how much I love this story. It has both the overarching meta critic of the series and non-depressing ending. The stilted, uncomfortable conversation between Felix and Kara was note perfect to both of their voices and characters. Kara does have people she cares about and doesn't want to be a risk to them. At the same time, Felix is right - he had better make sure someone has his back if the time ever comes.
I do love the Gaeta/Narcho/Racetrack flirtation. I don't suppose I can get you to write me some porn? :)
The last line was sheer perfection. A non-depressing open ended possibility creating the blend of reality and hope.
I've only recently watched and subsequently became addicted to BSG (and Gaeta,in particular), which is almost unforgivable given how besotted I am over AJ's depiction of L in DN. I've probably missed out on being active in the fandom, but I'm thisclosetoecstatic that I've found this gorgeous little nugget to chew upon. Thank you, seriously, for pointing out how flawed Adama's 4th season behavior was. Thank you for sharing this vision.
It was utterly absorbing. And the ending, a sweet elixir after having swallowed the bitters of canon. Don't get me wrong, I loved every moment of Gaeta-centric episodes, but like DN, had some serious issues finding the will to even bother watching the resolution of the series.

Yes, I was aiming for an ending that didn't involve anyone suiciding or getting eaten by a cheetah or raped by a Neanderthal. So yay! :)

I thought *you* wanted to write the sex :) You know how cheesy I get - "Racetrack sucked his throbbing cock" etc.... ;)
