Yesterday proved to be very sad when our beloved percolator unexpectedly died. A New York apartment-warming gift from our dear friend Tim (jucundushomo), she served us well these past 18 months and never failed to perk the most delicious coffee. thats the same coffee pot I have. Its not the best in the world but it does a good job. I'm sorry for your loss ;)

I must say I thought you were going to say Gretel died, or Rudy. I was reading the entry above yours at the time.

Perhaps I am being a tad melodramatic, but only a tad.

Aside from the sentimental connection I had to that percolator, it didn't help that it broke before I could have my Sunday morning coffee!

Exactly--AND it broke five minutes before the "Rock of Love 2" reunion came on! I hope you are grasping through my replies the seriousness of yesterday's situation.

Dead coffee pots in the morning are terrible things. Switching from percolator to drip is quite a change, too. Have you ever thought of a French press? I started using one about 7 years ago and I love it. Very good for anyone who enjoys a really strong brew

I'd love to try a French press, but because I need to have somebody make the coffee for me, I feel that that method is the most labor-intensive. I would certainly like to try a cup of French press coffee someday, though.
