It seems that US security policy is mostly reactive. The shoe bomber comes along, so we make everyone take off their shoes. Someone tries to use a liquid explosive, so no fluids over 5 oz. Underwear bomber brings up full body pat-downs. Now they have been banning toner cartridge shipments.

Chaotic order, depth, networks, mystery. As I recall, 3 quarks make the electron, 3 others make a proton and neutron.

This was an interesting weekend. Friday, I worked on a birthday card for Sha. She was going to spend most of the weekend with a women's prayer group, but ended up only doing Friday. This worked on a Mac but kills IE in my PC , so won't subject you to it.
It later killed Firefox on Mac.

Sha got me a Canon Powershot G11 - a decent prosumer camera. I haven't read all about it, but so far, I like the autobracket feature. Much nicer than my last one, which had major a ccd problem.
Below the break is the new island in our kitchen. Above it is Sha's creative solution for some metalwork - two peices from the craft store.

Just had my 45th bday. Somehow this one seems to be a milestone. Every other year I just feel a year older, but this year is bigger. I think it may have to do with my "fifths" always fall on a new decade, and my "oughts" fall in the middle of decades ( Read more... )

I don't know how my brother stands all these fumes! My Bro Pete has a custom paint shop / bodyshop where there is all kinds of carcinogens floating in the air. Bondo smells like rubber cement on steroids. Ugh. For that matter, how do manicurists survive?
