G called today early enough so we could talk for a couple of hours. Mick called during the conversation. I told him i was on the phone with my mother. So I went back to talk to G then called Mick while I was in the car with my friend on the way to work

Just remember that it is perfectly ok, natural and expected that there will be some people in your life that you will simply outgrow.

I realize that the more intimate aspect of your relationship with Mick is pretty much over, but does the "breakup" preclude continuing to have a friendship with him?

no. if we stop seeing each other it will be a complete cut off. This would be him not me, but except for a couple of people, i've not really remained friends with the ex's.
