and i think you would torture yourself with an environmental desk job. to talk about the environment all of the time and be stuck behind a desk, not able to go outside...

I think it depends....you might really enjoy working with a group of people on an environmental project (i.e. lots of discussion), but a lot of desk jobs involve you, your computer, and an office/cubicle with no windows. That was my last job, and it was a little rough.

That aside, I think you should try it and see how you like it. I learned a lot about myself from having a job I wasn't too thrilled about.
