It was 4th of July weekend 3-4 years ago. Even though I had known you for many years I had never really met you. You were wearing combat boots, fatigues, and had a blue streak in your hair. I thought to myself "how fucking cool is that"? My insanely smart ready to go to law school cousin looks like she could kick the shit out of the last judge I went before. We sat around the campfire and just talked for hours. Then we went for a walk and found a new state of mind. When we got back your dad was perched on the balcony like a hawk just waiting for us to return. It was the best night I have spent with relatives I can remember in recent years.
