1) A gigabyte of never-deleted, readily-searchable storage, no banner ads or pop-ups, message threading.

But:
2) Targeted advertising included in the email based on buzzword algorithms, near as I can tell. In theory, no human eye at Google will ever peruse your email.

Three reasons:

1. Fully searchable
2. One gig of storage
3. Fast, unlike my current webmail

It also has fewer features than Squirrelmail, which is not cool.

Mmmm... GMail... they haven't invited me into the warm, comforting glow, yet. I remain outside, cold, wet from the storms that rage outside of Google's welcoming shelter.

I'm interested in a gmail account for a variety of reasons. One project I'm working on may have some effect on what they're doing. I want to see their feature set and how they present it in a UI. I'm also interested in how good their spam blocking is.
