Global dimming: why global warming is having less effect than expected

You know, this could also be why seasonal affective disorder is on the rise.

I think the vast number of people working in windowless offices with insufficient illumination is probably a bigger factor still.

At least for me, I can't feel very good after days of just typical overhead fluorescent illumination for most of the day. It's just nowhere near as bright as outdoor illumination.

(Fortunately I work at home most days lately, and I have a window office of sorts there.)

Different spectral range, too--fluorescent bulbs designed to cast a whiter light have been shown to produce healthier, happier people than the standard blue/green-hued variety.

Yeah, I recently got moved away from my big window at work, so I got them to buy me a lightbox. 10,000 lux of full-spectrum light- it's so bright, it pretty much lights up the entire IT department.

Can't wait until, say, Rainier decides to convert 9/10ths of its mass into upper-atmosphere particulate matter. That's always fun. Pretty sunsets and rises though.

Or it could be like most psychological disorders. That is to say, rising because of increased awareness and willingness to diagnose, not because of increased affliction.

I'm not awful worried about it. China's gearing up to produce enough particulate matter to keep any greenhouse emissions by the Western world in check.
