Dear god I got that phone call one day. Said he was in the middle of reloading his M-16, got a knife to the throat and had to fight the guy hand-to-hand to the death. I cried for hours after the conversation.

I'm so sorry you had to feel that horror and pain as I did. I know my boys kill count was at 35 before he left (from previous depolyments) and I know in that one day it went up by like 12. It was a bad story.

I suggest you GENTLY remind him that you are his girlfriend, and that hearing things like that scare you, and that you wish he would tell you he had a very bad day, and tell one of his guy friends/ his dad the details. I had to. It hurt to much.

and... i had the same fear that he would come home, take his truck and tell me "we're too different" and walk away from me. Just like that. But I talked to him about it and he told me I was crazy... which kinda made me feel better.

How long has Ryan been gone?

Ryan left almost exactly five months ago. So he'll be back in three more months I think, but it's still so hard.

Indeed, it's sickening. But at least I now know i'm not the only one who's had to hear that story... I mean, it's scary as shit and makes you want to puke, but none the less, you understand.

I still have 7-ish months to go.

I had that same exact feeling when Adam was away, he wasnt in war, but i was scared. He came back and everything was fine. I told him about my fear and he sat there saying "nonononononononononono missing you was the hardest part about being away"

and "i miss you sex" is the best. hehe

anytime. Adam tells me its something no one can understand packing up and being away from everything you know and love. But when he came back and i was in his arms hearing how much he missed me and loved me, it just made everything better.
