FTSECWoody had loved the white, two-story house as soon as he’d seen it.  It was perfect.  It was bland, boring, and dull.  It was at the end of a cul-de-sac of similar houses, mostly rentals.  It had lawns, a few low shrubs, no trees, and a wood fence in decent shape ( Read more... )

Personally, I think Glinda would make a wonderful barista and fit right into Portland ;)

Yes, she would. Making the drinks is easy for her with her magic, and her fashion sense would fit right in.

Nice! Reminds me (in a very positive way) of the "Fables" graphic novels. I feel bad for the WWW, though-not a dignified exit for the grande dame! Would be interested to read of how the woodsman et al. transitioned from the "days" of their stories to the days of Starbucks.

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the "Fables" series, so now I'm going to have to look them up. Things did not end well for WWW, but they never do. After all, she's evil.

Who would have guessed that Glinda was the baddie the whole time? Me, that's who. I'm not surprised at all; she always gave me the feeling that I was looking at someone with a dark side she hid not-too-well.

“Too bad about that snitch,” she said with a smile.

That line got me way too hard. I liked this one a lot!

There always was something creepy about Glinda. Someone that cloyingly good had to be evil underneath it all. Supposedly, there is a scene where Glinda makes her first appearance, waves her wand around, and clunks herself on her crown. With her goody reputation, she's perfect to head a crime syndicate. No one would suspect her.

I love you. ❤️

If you’ve never read The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde, I highly recommend it!

Now you've made me blush. This is so kind of you. I'm very glad you enjoyed it. I've read The Eyre Affair and some of Fforde's follow-ups, and I've really liked them. Halfshell likes his books as well. We own several, I think, but I can't remember which ones.

Heh. I love these twists on things we think we know. But anyone who calls themselves 'the Good' is clearly overcompensating for their evil.

Exactly! But in the end her evil was revealed and she got her just deserts -- being forced to work in a Starbucks.
