So, today I got my first email from my grandfather, he's 84.

He sounds like he's doing better in adapting to technology than my parents! The only thing about emails/letters is trying to convey feeling with text. But hey, if it helps you converse with someone you normally don't get the chance to, it's the best thing in the world.

Oh, I don't know about that, in his case I think he comes through loud and clear. :)

Yes, that is so, so true.
This is my father's father. They are very alike, but I think age has burned the mean out Grandpa.
Picture a booming-voiced white-haired friendly giant. Very stereotypically "Irish," blarney stone, etc.

He wants his tombstone to say, "I enjoyed my stay." That sums him up pretty good.
