Europe - Opinion after the first month

A lot of people have been hassling me to tell them how things are going and I've been thinking of a couple of rants to post, so this update is going to be a long one. It's also probably going to be unedited, so if you want more info or more thought out responses to something, leave a comment

Dude, most of the world is 8-5 5 days a week (with an hour lunch each day), and they don't charge you when they teach you something new. In fact, most of the time they'll pay you.

And now I feel like a total putz because I had no clue you were working at CERN this summer. What a fantastic opportunity! You'll have to regale me with stories about high-energy particle colliders and whatnot when you get a chance.
