SOO AMAZING, OH MY LORD.

i loved how he was going on about how he'd gotten beaten up and everything, and when the trio mentioned it, he's just like, oh right, it's alright, they're not gonna kill me.
and his gran! and the room of requirement! and SQUEEEEE! xD
this is where the book started to really pick up for me. i think the setting of hogwarts and the supporting characters there (neville, luna, the twins, the professors, etc. etc.) are really what make the books for me, so it was good to finally get back there.

neville is amazing and i melted when he said gran told him he was his parents' son but when we get to the room of requirement and then see luna and dean and then the weasleys coming i started crying like a motherfucker. it was overwhelming after being totally isolated and scared for so long to see everybody there. and right after they hear aberforth being like "it's over, the order's finished, just get out of here" that they were all totally stoked and seriously thought they were going to throw a coup at hogwarts is <3 ( ... )

BACK AT HOGWARTS, MOFOS! randomneses August 27 2007, 21:05:41 UTC
1) NEVILLE. LONGBOTTOM. ♥

2) I feel like an idiot because I really thought that that was Mad Eye in that photo but like...Mad Eye 50 years ago or something. It was the eye bruise that threw me off >_>

3) Ab.

Lolz, okay.

4) Wasn't the mantelpiece sort of high up. They'd have to like jump to get on top of it?

5) "What did you do with the dragon?"
"Released it into the wild," said Ron.

Oh please, Ron. It released itself into the wild.

But yeah, Hermione totally had a soft spot for that dragon XD

6) The amount of restriction and they had on Hogwarts was INSANE. But I was impressed by how batshit insane it all was. I mean, a Dark Arts class where you go around practicing the Cruciatus Curse? Christ.

7) "...I got this one," he indicated another slash to his face, "for asking her how much Muggle blood she and her brother have got."

OMG ♥

Neville you little smart ass ;D

8) "Blimey, Neville," said Ron, "there's a time and a place for getting a smart mouth."

...is Ron seriously warning somebody about when to not have a ( ... )

"You don't have to do everything alone, Harry." jenderelly August 27 2007, 21:17:30 UTC
I would just like to say that I do not like the chapter art for this chapter at all. I prefer my own visual image of Neville. :)

Dawlish gets it again. Is anybody keeping track? I'm surprised this guy keeps getting assignments. He seems to be pretty inept.

"She sent me a letter telling me she was proud of me, that I'm my parents' son, and to keep it up." LOVE!! I'm so glad that Gran has finally come around to being proud of Neville. And he has so much more confidence now than at the start of this series. I love Neville!

"Yeah, well, food's one of the five exceptions to Gamp's law of Elemental Transfiguration." I laughed sooo hard when Ron said that. Repeating what Hermione told him. It was funny to me. :)

"Everyone in here's prove they're loyal to Dumbledore - loyal to you." aww Nevill and the DA FTW!!

What I would like to know, is how did the older students that had been in the DA know to start looking at their coins again? Only Neville and Luna responded to them the last time they were used, but now everybody is using them ( ... )

It took me a minute to realize that it was Ron citing the Elemental Transfiguration law. That threw me for a loop.

Don't the coins turn warm when there's a new message? Granted, I don't know why the other DA members would still have them (esp. since they didn't respond at the end of HBP when Ron and Hermione called them up to patrol Hogwarts while Harry and Dumbledore away). I thought that maybe the others lost them or something. It's a convenient plot device anyway.

Ginny may be this incredibly secure, tomboy, girl-power whatever, but she does not like Cho with Harry. And that makes me happy ^_^

I think maybe they started looking at them again when things got so dire at Hogwarts. I mean, at the end of HBP, there was no real threat presenting itself. I can imagine that with Dumbledore dead and the Carrows and other DE's representing at Hogwarts, they would think to check them again.

i just figured word got around. ginny's a weasley and fred and george were friends with most of the older DA members still, i'm sure they would have been really happy to have a more stealth way of communicating.

I Don't Get Ginny littleyuzu August 27 2007, 21:19:15 UTC
Since most of the threads are focusing on the awesomeness that is Neville Longbottom (and for good reason!), I want to bring up the topic of Ginny. Harry's always loved the non-clingy vibe about Ginny, so it seems odd to me that she'd "fiercely" oppose Harry's ex escorting him to the Ravenclaw common room. Does she honestly think that anything's going to happen between the two of them while Harry's on the hunt for something extremely important to bring down Voldemort? I mean, seriously.

Don't get me wrong - I'm relieved that Luna goes with Harry instead of Cho taking him (because Luna & Harry interaction always makes me happy). But it just seemed weird for Ginny to be like that. Or maybe she's the kind of woman who fights for her man and isn't about to let Cho have her way.

yes, i think it's something that would have bothered me a lot less if we got to see ginny do much of anything in this book. i miss her awesomeness in the two [previous books, i don't know what happened here.

Ginny has apparently been doing awesome things throughout the book, but we only find that out through word of mouth, since Harry's not witnessing her awesomeness firsthand. So, yeah, I'd have to agree with you that this scene would've been less bothersome if we had more ass-kicking Ginny in the book.

oh i know, but i just feel like if they had given her one awesome moment in the battlescene her character would feel a little more...complete? i don't know. i know logically it doesn't follow cause they can't show everything, but it's nice to actually SEE those things about her.
