What is the most insane thing your boss has ever said to you?

OK, this is totally ripping off something previously written on a much better blog then mine, but I am posting it anyway because it amuses me on many levels (well, not the sexual harrassment part, of course).

"What is the most insane thing your boss has ever said to you?

I’ll go first, and this is totally 100% pure and complete genuine truth:

When I was temping, I had a really short boss (also British, but good teeth), who made me sit in a really short chair so he could tower over me. And when the photocopy machine made speckles on the copies, he made me cover each speckle with white-out.
I found out later that I was something like his eighth secretary in six months. I lasted six weeks, which was apparently something of a record.

That's pretty good. Whiting-out photocopy speckles certainly ranks high on the petty megalomania list.

I am quite jealous, as I have no good insane boss stories.

No weird boss stories, but thanks SO much for making me google "choach."

My question is, the writer never denies actually dressing like a naughty school girl, so is that really appropriate business attire, even for a $70 million startup? I mean, she started the ad hominems with the bad teeth crack.

OK, now you made me Google choach, and let's just say that the way Urban Dictionary defines it is quite differently from the definition I learned, whenever I picked the word up.

As for your question, since I am not entirely sure what dressing like a naughty schoolgirl entails (and my only frame of reference here is Britney Spears), I won't hazard a guess. I wouldn't have guessed that black tights would be part of the ensemble. (I'm thinking thinking white, knee-length socks?) But I would suppose that old British men with bad teeth are predisposed to automatically associate anything female with naughty schoolgirls, so the writer could have been wearing a burlap bag and still elicited the same comment.

Or I could be prejudiced by having watched too many episodes of Father Ted.

Great. Now I have to images.google.com for naughty school girls, and I'm at work. So much for MY career.

I think plaid miniskirts and too-small white Oxfords are pretty much standard. It's basically a British variant on "naughty cheerleader" (cf: Toni Basil).

After feeling particularly pleased with himself after coming up with an idea about something or other sure to make life hell for at least one of his many oppressed underlings:

"Sometimes I think to myself, that's what God would have done."

(without intending the slightest bit of irony)
