whose music will be more remembered 100 years from now: Michael Jackson or Prince?

I'm thinking Prince. Michael is more of a performer than a songwriter. Prince's songs are just better music.

UPDATE: Bonus question: will the music of the Beatles still be considered genius 100 years from now?

Michael, of course! anonymous July 28 2006, 14:25:23 UTC
Not only did he revolutionize pop, he was THE cultural sensation of the 1980s. Prince was a talented songwriter, but a blip on the screen of actually singing those songs. And Michael had the whole "performace package." People watched him sing and dance like no one else from childhood up. Of course, the "freak" image will be remembered as well, but his inane personal behavior can never eclipse Michael's talent.

The Beatles will always be remembered as the true originators of rock 'n roll. Whether that will be considered "genius" or not depends on the quality of what people are listening to 100 years from now. But they will never be forgotten, nor will their music ever go unappreciated.

Ah, Bliss Partner, thou art lovely, and the love of my life. But I will never understand the Wacko Jacko fixation.
