I know from my own experience that there is no rule, or reason for this kind of thing. My mom's golf buddy (a doctor) said at the time that there is a 'shit happens' moment sometimes. I was perfectly young, and we had no genetic incompatibilities (we tested before trying again), so when we were told the baby was 'not viable' at 5 months, they took it.
You have a larger complication 'twin'. I sure hope for the best, and am sure that you are strong!
