Get off of my cloud !

The last few days our hometown has been swallowed into a big cloud of fog and humidity. Laundry doesn't dry anymore, there's no horizon visible on the sea and paper documents flying around turn moist spontaneously. Thank god the invaders are leaving and going back to Paris, so the beach slowly turns empty and the streets as ghosttownlike as I ( Read more... )

I heard an interview with Mission of Burma's lead singer yesterday. He was pretty funny and it was nice to hear about a band that just sort of went their own ways when other interests took hold. They all developed new careers and don't seem to pine for the old days. Better that way I think.

I saw Jello Biafra last Saturday and, while I appreciated much of his poetry and music, there was something a big stunted about it. Same guy, same message for, like, the past 20 years. It didn't help that 80% of the audience were sporting bald spots.

I once shook Joey Ramones hand when I was living in NYC. It felt like a piece of pizza.

I have been looking for new music so I will download some Raconteurs today. Hope your enjoying yourself whenever/wherever this message finds you.

I like to think of myself as somewhat clued on popular music in general, but about Mission of Burma I never got clued - but I think they've got a newish album out that's supposed to seriously rock.

About Joey Ramone - I can well imagine the handshake, bet it was a cold soggy type of pizza piece it felt like ;) According to that book I mentioned, the Ramones were incredible chick magnets at the time - which is a really shattering thought to me. I mean no disrespect but ex-hustler, junkies that all look like having genetic defects ?...I dunno..

Yeah, the Raconteurs are really great - I bet you'll like them. Anybody with a liking for (somewhat classical) rock should like them, they really have their Led Zep, Black Sabbath, Beatles moments without feeling like a rehash at all. They are the best thing in a very long time - in the beginning the songs might feel a bit poppy, but the more and the louder one listens to them the more one gets aware of the heaviness and creative power at work !
