Sign of the times?

We were "mandatorily evacuated" from our house last night by the police. I do not kid.

They said an explosive device had been found "quite nearby" and that they expected to take care of it quickly, but if they couldn't the Red Cross would make overnight arrangements for us.

We had dinner guests over, so that obviously did not go according to plan ( Read more... )

I am angry. So angry that I cannot even let the floodgates open a little bit.

America wears clown shoes. So says MiAmor.

*solidarity silence*

It was sunny here today and I spent it with my guy and life isn't 100% terrible after all. But. Oh, but.

Apparently it was fake dynamite. Although I didn't see it, now I'm wondering if if was part of somebody's Halloween costume, left out for the sanitation workers to pick up. Maybe they went as Wylie Coyote? Nobody has been able to confirm or deny that it had ACME stamped on the side.

I'm sorry you had that terrifying experience. I'm glad everyone was all right in the end.

Probably because I haven't been wisely shutting up about it on LJ, Tumblr, Facebook, and at the various employee resources groups at work all week, I'm feeling completely emotionally drained. Personally, I can't not share data and notes of encouragement and reassurances and caution and coping mechanisms with friends and colleagues when I see the need. I don't know what else to do. I suspect I'll be processing this for a long time.

Sending you *hugs* and positive vibes. Let me know if you ever want to chat over coffee or lunch or something. I live near BART and work by the Embarcodero (well, you know).

It wasn't really that terrifying. The nice police officers were very calm, so we were, too. It was more of a "What next?" kind of experience. (Turns out it was fake dynamite. Or ammunition. Reports vary. At any rate, not a real bomb, and possibly just a misunderstanding.)

I do feel a little guilty for not being more "out there" at this point, but the hermit powers are strong with this one.

I don't plan to write about it now. Once I start, I'm afraid I'll never stop

That's how I've been feeling the last few days. I didn't manage to get anything written immediately post-election, and when I sat down today, I wrote for almost two hours and I don't know how many pages. But I said what I wanted to say.

So much to say. So much anger and blame wanting to go everywhere. Not helpful.

I'm glad you were able to get some things down! Catharsis!
