Finally! Results are here! Thank you to everyone who voted! There is still a tie, so the people's choice will be rewarded two points each and there will be no mod's choice.
#08: I like the use of color in this icon, though I think a slightly different text placement would have looked better - I don't particularly like how close it is to his chin. #08: The balance of black and white is nice in this icon, I like the idea of having his glasses being the color splash! #08: The lens flare is a such a nice addition and really makes this icon "twinkle". #08: I love the selected coloring used in this icon, which is probably the smartest choice to do, since Lambo doesn't have many other features that could stand out well enough for such a theme. The light texture to make his glasses shine is a great addition to the theme. The crop and somewhat scratchy feel to the icon are nice as well. My only problem is that the text may be a little bit distracting. #08: The shades and the reflected light are eye-catching.
#02: The shading on Hibari's face, and the plain background emphasizes the text. #02: The crop is well done and uses just enough of Hibari's face to make the viewer feel/interpret his emotions by looking at the rest of his facial features. Focusing on the text for selective coloring is much wittier than using a feature on Hibari, and simply highlighting behind it makes sure that the text isn't too distracting. #02: I love the images cropping along with the text placement. The dash of purple under the text looks nice as well. #02: I LOVE the originality of this icon! Having the color splash behind the text I thought was really nice and very appealing. #02: I found this really eye-catching; the crop is awesome, and using the color to augment the textworked out nicely.
#03: Although a tad over-sharpened, it includes the theme very well, what with the coloured flames and the flame texture/brush. Considering that black-and-white icons are hard to pull off, it was done nicely in this icon with exactly the right amount of contrast.
#09: I love everything about this icon. The perfect use of negative space, how the texture/brush used perfectly highlights Crome's hair, the crop, and even how the icon has a "soft" feel to it. This icon immediately caught my attention and continues to captivate me. #09: The purple looks nice against the gray, I also like the cropping & texture usage. #09: chrome always looks good on purple and i like how the light texture was used #09: The minimalism here looks great! Awesome use of negative space and the purple is very vivid.
