Well, we all know that da Bears will win... It's just the spread that is a concern. Then again, the Bears won by 12 the last time they tangled with the Pack (despite Orton throwing for only like 60 yards and 1 interception.. wah wah). Also, Grossman seems to have instilled new life in the offense. So, I am pretty confident here.

I am a little more confident with the Pats/Jets bet. It's true that the Patriots have already clinched their division (and thus might not have much to really play for - like Indy today), but being a Monday night game, I think their starters will give it their all and won't come out unless the game is a done deal (which it will be because the Jets bite).

Bottom line, I honestly think you have a pretty good shot at winning the whole thing, and I hope that you do. (It is always hard to turn down guaranteed money though.)

BTW, your fantasy team probably could have been dece. Way to update that roster. -_- Oh well... Merry Christmas!

6.5 points is a lot of points to cover, especially for the Bears sucktastic offense. It's true that the Packers totally bite this year, but that spread is skewed by the 48-3 beatdown the Pack took last week. Based on those three factors (high spread, Bears sucky offense, Packers considered overly sucky from last week) I would have steered clear of this game entirely. I could totally see something like the Bears winning 13-3 with almost no time left, and then allowing the Packers to march the field in the closing seconds and score a TD to bust your spread. My brother and tested the sports betting waters last year and we got rocked. The number one thing we learned is that the players care only about winning and not about covering stupid spreads (and rightfully so). Therefore, if the Bears can just coast in the waning seconds and give up some points but still win, they will do just that while screwing your bet at the same time (see Bucs v Bears, although I don't know what the spread was in that game or if it got busted by the 4th ( ... )

I almost had a heart attack at the end of the game there. God damn...

Also, on a lamer note, I was going to bet Green Bay to cover online, and would have been getting 7.5 points. This is called middling, where if the bears win by 7, a likely scenario, I would win BOTH bets, but if only one wins I still hedge all bets. Instead, I thought, "I think the Bears will beat the hell out of the Packers."

Damn.

I am, however, hedging on the Pats game, because I got the Pats at -5.5, and now i can get the Jets at +7.5. Therefore, I have a middle of both 6 and 7 to win both bets, and I win either way. So I might put like 75 - 100 on the Jets at +7.5 and hope to win both, and if i lose one, well... I still win a hundo.

Sweet.
