Please note:  goodchristian  has been banned.  I hope would be trolls and any one else who attacks members here take good note of this.  Even if you have good intentions but show up solely for the purpose of undermining the message of this community, similar action will be taken.  I'm all for a great debate, but this is not a debate community.  This is a place ( Read more... )

What the hell? Folks are tripping already? But this is Livejournal, so I shouldn't be surprised.

You may want to moderate membership for the time being. Maybe try to weed out the sock puppets and trolls until you're on more even footing.

But yeah keep up the great work and thanks for creating this community.

It looks like I might have to. I had really hoped to not have to do that in the interest of openness, but ultimately a safe and secure atmosphere is more important. For the community to thrive people have to feel able to speak their minds. And thanks. :)

I think there's a way to limit community entries to members only.

I really appreciate everything you've had to say here, and rest assured I've taken it to heart. You certainly bring a valuable perspective. And yeah, it's one thing to flippantly say "Don't feed the trolls," but you've gotta be pretty chill to not get your blood boiling at least on the inside. I'd just as well not deal with it.

Meh...I tend to like to let people put their own proverbial foot in their mouths.

It paints THEM how they act, the concern is less with 'the trolls' but rather those who 'take the bait'.

Putting up another perspective is one thing...swearing and essentially 'trash talking' is another. Alternative arguments should be okay...it's the language that should be monitored.

Modding the membership cancels the 'open forum discussion' I noted in the descriptive, however axing abusers does not...

Just my .02

If this were any other community, I'd be all for letting people do their own work of making themselves look like idiots. Due to the sensitive nature of the subject matter though, I think a stricter stance ought to be taken. I think I'll wait and see how things pan out from here to get a feel for the best way to handle membership. Thanks for your input, and thanks for joining in. :)

i would think modeling the comm's rules off of VPs would be a good idea; safe space is very well enforced there, and this is not a place for 'counter arguments', this is a place for support.

I am not surprised I was banned. This is often the case when people who state they are looking for answers, healing or whatever spiritual bullshit that makes them feel good about their choices, especially, sexual choices. If you ignore the hard truth about sex and only seek those who agree with your point of view, you will only accomplish wallowing in the mire of blissful ignorance.

You weren't banned for disagreeing. You were banned for being an asshole and for blatant disregard for the rules which you should have read upon your arrival. And for some reason, I thought that the "ban" setting would keep you from commenting, but apparently I was wrong. Guess I'll have to restrict comment priveliges to members only.

Oh. Apparently I goofed and only banned from my personal journal. Oops. Fixed now.

Truth and faith are both relative. The truth for you is not the case for me, or any others.

One universal truth holds, however, forcing personal truth and perspectives upon others only leads to sorrow.

It is ~good~ to have personal truths and to stick to them...people need to hear differing views. The truth for them, most likely is something in between. However, your condescending attitudes, poor language and methods of lashing out eliminate any credit your perspective may hold.

Think about it.
