PS - Unless you have a strong reason to go there, I'd shy away from McGill. I've heard some iffy things (though my grandmother was the first fourth-generation graduate) that would be unlikely to contribute to your experience. You'd probably still do fine, but I've heard it's a bit... institutional might be the word.
If you do wind up thinking about it more, you might talk to Bill--I think he was a visiting prof their one year. (If I remember correctly from a five-year-old-conversation.)
Thanks, I'll... keep that in mind, I guess? Although your warning is rather on the vague side. =) But indeed, Bill was a visiting prof there, I'll definitely talk to him about it if I get into McGill and am considering going there.
Impersonal, badly managed, lack of support networks, and something about hiding in the closet when the dorm matron showed up and the trash can was on fire...
But that's an amalgamation of a few things, and individual departments may be good, and graduate is different than undergraduate, and you're not someone who can't get by without a good local support network anyway.
