Chapter Seven Part B:

Morning:

I woke up to the sounds of birds chirping and the rustling of trees being blown in the wind. The smell of the nature told me it would be a nice day for a hike.

I got up slowly from my bed and dressed in a light blue shirt and long shorts with tennis shoes and my hair tied up in a pony tail. Once I was done I went downstairs and saw Sun Mi standing around waiting for someone to come down.

“There you are!” she exclaimed. “Hurry we need to get going!”

“Where’s everyone else?” I asked confused.

“Not many of the kids wanted to go,” Sun Mi’s smile fell a bit. “But the good thing is that it’s me, you and Ryosuke.”

“What about Mirai?” I said wondering where she went off to.

“She’s still sleeping and when she wakes up she’ll probably call Ryunosuke again,” she said as we headed outside where Ryosuke was waiting.

“Hey,” I smiled waving.

“Morning,” he smiled cutely.

“Oh!” Sun Mi said as she looked at her phone for the time. “I have a call… You two go on ahead I have to take this. You know the way right Chae Ri?”

She left the two of us alone standing outside surprised that she would just leave us like that. I then turned to Ryosuke.

“I guess we should go,” I said awkwardly as he nodded silently.

The two of us walked for a long time, I mean we didn’t even talk. Silence the whole time. It was very lonesome.

“We’re almost there,” I said as I heard his heavy breathing.

Soon the two of us were through the trees and out into the bright light of the sun. We stood in the middle of a meadow which if we had taken a hundred yards further it would drop down into the lake. There were wild flowers growing in an assortment of colors that took my breath away.

“It’s beautiful,” Ryosuke sighed as I sat down on the ground.

“It is,” I whispered in return.

He sat down next to me and we stared out at the lake that was stretched till we could see the small buildings of the town. I smiled remembering the last time I was here with my mom and her beautiful smiles that even if it was a gray afternoon would light up the world. We sat in silence as I reminisced about her and how happy it was back then.

“What are you thinking about?” he asked.

“My mom,” I smiled as the wind blew softly. “What are you thinking about?”

He paused for a few moments before answering. Like he wasn’t sure what he should say.

“I was thinking about the wind and if it could carry me away,” he said, his eyes closed.

“Why would you want it to carry you away?” I asked confused.

“Because I want to know what it feels like to be able to fly,” his solemn expression turned to a smile.

It was silent for a few moments so I took in his still figure. He was wearing a thin white shirt that fit his body nicely he was also wearing shorts and tennis shoes. He looked so serene that I didn’t want to look away. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I’m a perv or anything, he just looks so perfect.

Suddenly his eyes popped open and he looked at me straight in the eyes and I felt locked in place. I couldn’t move my muscles; I just wanted to stare at him a little bit longer. His toothy grin made me somewhat smile and then he laughed.

“What?” I asked really confused.

“You’re cute when you stare intensely,” he answered as he lied down on the grassy ground.

I didn’t know how to answer as I blushed madly. I didn’t know how to respond to that not many boys had ever said I was cute, especially when I stare intensely! What am I supposed to do? Because I didn’t know how to react I just lied down next to him and tried to hide my blush that was quickly turning my cheeks completely red.

We stayed that way for a long while, I hadn’t noticed but Ryosuke fell asleep. Really he works way too hard. It’s nice to see him sleeping though; he looks like a little kid. I smiled and brushed his hair out of his face then sat up. It felt weird looking at him while he was sleeping. I looked at the flowers and started to pick them and play with them. After a while I had made a pretty flower crown. Suddenly I heard rustling and I turned to see Ryosuke rubbing his eyes with his arm in disorientation.

“What time is it?” he asked yawning.

“By the way the sun looks probably two o’clock,” I answered as I put the crown on his head and smiled.

“We’ve been here that long?” he asked taking the crown off his head and putting it on mine.

“Yup,” I smiled and when I opened my eyes he started to blush slightly as he froze. “You’ve been sleeping for awhile.”

“Oh,” he blinked a couple times and smiled sheepishly.

“Should we head back?” I asked as he got up off the ground and offered his hand to me.

I looked at him for a few seconds then let my hand slide into his. It was a strange feeling, like an electric current throughout my body. When he let go of my hand there was a tingling sensation left.

“Yeah let’s head back,” he said and we started on the journey back to the house.

But I couldn’t stop thinking about this strange feeling I was having. Am I going crazy? Or is this turning into something more than what it started out to be?

hey! say! jump
