I have spent far too long on this today :) And for a final result which is pretty bad, but I'm still quite excited that I actually managed to make it work and get it uploaded ( Read more... )

Thanks - there's so much more I would have liked to record, but the file size was huge even after 5 minutes recording. I'm looking into finding some compression software to see if I can reduce the size but keep the quality. It's a nice way to record plants and the changes in the garden.

I liked your video very much. I liked how the plants were waving in the breeze. And my, you have such a lovely voice.

I really enjoyed the stroll through the garden. I am amazed at how tall your buddleia is (our common name for them is butterfly bush). Mine is lucky to hit four feet tall. Poor things die back to the ground every year though. I consider it a good year when they all survive the winter. Loved the kitty; I miss having cats to walk with me.

Thank you :) I love that icon!

The common buddleia goes to about 12 feet high, but it tends to be more foliage and fewer flowers than the other ones we have in the garden. I love buddleias but they're so untidy and space hogging.

I was surprised that I was accompanied around the garden - Manic isn't usually quite so bothered - I can only think that he was building up to food *grin*

Thanks. :)

Twelve feet!!! Impressive. They don't get that tall here. Yeah they are untidy, but the butterflies and hummingbirds love them. :)

He is adorable. :)

Thank you for sharing. It's exciting to learn something new and while I don't know anything about converting media files, I'm sure you will get the hang of it. So nice to see your garden in motion (complete with kitties) and hear your voice.

Hello, I haven't seen you for such a long time.

Glad you enjoyed it ... yes, I am usually motivated to learn if it is something useful :) But as with all things computer-related, it seems to take forever!

Hope you are OK.

Sorry that I can't help with the conversion question (tring to figure out how to compress a couple short doggie videos I have myself so I can upload them into the gallery section of LJ)... but I loved 'strolling' through your garden with you :-)

The link to the site below gives you a free trial on the software I used to convert form Quick Time, but only for videos up to five minutes long. And the quality is severely reduced - the original recording I made was really clear.

Glad you enjoyed the video though! I want to do more, but it is really time-consuming.

Problem I'm having is I import my video (.mov file) into a utiliy I have on the iMac that allows you to make/edit movies, iMovie HD, but for some reason it imports it without the sound and can't figure out how to get around that. If I could get it loaded correctly into the utility then it allows me to export the video as a quicktime file that automatically compresses it. I used the iMovie to make a little 'dancing Doug' video that I posted a week or so ago but I also shot it using the iMovie HD utility so everything worked just fine ( ... )

Yes, I can see I'll be paying out for the Quicktime facility too. The original video I took in the garden yesterday was 508mb! And only six minutes long, so I really need to compress it a lot otherwise it won't be worth doing. I'll be interested to hear how you get on with the Pro version if you decide to go ahead. Worth it, for the doggie memories :)
