I love the Emmys, even more than the Oscars.  This probably has to do with being way more able to watch and enjoy far more television than I get to enjoy movies due to time and cost constraints ($9 for a movie in *this* economy?  Please.), I also think it has alot to do with television actors not taking themselves as seriously as movie actors.  The ( Read more... )

The ACEs died when the Emmys took on cable back in the late 90s. I liked watching their award shows as they rarely edited themselves. I agree though that cable does have an unfair advantage over network television, and one of the main reasons why cable took so long to be included in the Emmys was because people had to pay to watch. People still have to pay to watch, but the Television Academy doesn't seem to care anymore that not all people can watch shows that have been nominated or have won. Tommy was awesome... well, politicized it a good deal but on my preferred side of politics, so maybe that's why I thought it was awesome :) Of course, YMMV :D

One thing I forgot to mention in my list of Emmy Awesomeness - Colbert eating prunes and making comparisons to McCain :D

I still have no idea what to make of the Josh Groban performance. I don't know if I'm terribly embarrassed for him, or terrifically amused by it.

But one thing is sure: I never expected to see a half-assed version of Animal the muppet flail around and get abducted by aliens via a noose.
