Ladies and Gentlebeings, We Have a Winner!

It's not that I thought I couldn't do it...less than 1700 words a day isn't actually that bad. But I wasn't sure if I would do it, if that makes sense. And there were a couple of days when life happened and I was over 10,000 words behind schedule going into the last week. (I made it all up over the holiday weekend, including 7800 words on Sunday ( Read more... )

Congratulations! And I hope that next step works out--quite selfishly. ;)

Congratulations! That's great, redbyrd! I was thinking about you wondering if you'd joined up with it.

Yay yay yay!

Yes, though I quickly discovered that the only way to do it was to dedicate pretty much all my non-work computer time to staring into a word processor. And absolutely nothing else got done. Tonight, there will have to be some housework. Even by my normally fairly lax standards, the house is trashed.

Yay! I love your stories, and often find myself going back to re-read them. I hope you keep writing regularly (and posting!), and to encourage that I will tell you what a professor told me in college: if you write one page a day, in a year you will have written a book. In two years, you will have written two books.

Thank you! I think I get that doing writing produces writing. Now I just need to learn how to not deploy my world-class abilities in laziness and procrastination in that direction!

Yay! I know both of us were having troubles with our NaNos. I was able to complete mine too, Sunday night. I'm trying to vow to write for 1hr every day until the story is done, though, I'm really really close! THen it'll go in for an entire overhaul and edit, but that's okay.... right? =)

Congratulations, that's great! And yay for being really close! Mine is...so not even remotely close (it's a draft for an original novel, so the current 51000 words is probably a bit less than half the intended finished length).

And of *course* overhaul and edit is okay! Honestly, I forget who said it, but I heard a great quote years and years ago. "Good stories are not written, they're re-written!"

yeah, i hear you on lots of that. Mine is also original; i "cheated" b/c I continued last year's nano. i would not doubt i will be around... oh... 120k when I finish this rough draft, and much of it is long and rambling that can be cut later. So long as I get to a finish line sometime, I'll be happy to see that, even if a whole other amount of work is opened up by that.... =)
