My reasons for not being religious/believing in God are theological, not political (i.e. in opposition to sexism or homophobia) or ethical (I think my religion's morals are unacceptable-I don't think that).* But I have somewhere between "no" and "very little" problem with what you seem to be advocating in terms of human behavior, even if I would, ah, characterize certain aspects of it differently. From a Christian perspective, how much does it matter (and feel free to interpret "matter" however you feel is appropriate) what an individual believes versus what they do?** I know I've had this discussion before, sometime a long time ago in my hometown, but probably not with someone as well-read as you ( ... )

That's an excellent question, clearly totally central. It will make an excellent post soon, but likely not before a few others. It needs some background material to make any bloody sense. Still, it's a good thing to build toward. Thanks!

I'd be very curious to see your take on the Problem of Suffering, seeing as it's been a pretty fundamental issue in my own relationship (or at points, lack of one) with God.

I am glad to hear intelligent Christian discussion.

Honestly there is a lot more out there than most folks think. Christianity has had a number of serious and challenging intellectual heavyweights. It pains me that the most widely listened too voices are both ignorant and backwards.
