The hippies man, no one saw it coming. They came to the sixties like hungry dogs to a stake man, it was crazy. They came with a passion. Music, protests, sex, drugs, it was a community man, a community of people who never quite fit in with the “normal” conservative bratty snobs. a community of outcasts. It was a real blast. dude the focus of the hippie movement wasnt fully counterculture to conservatives. in a sense the hippie movement was overly radical compared to liberal stuff. even the really hardcore poilitical radicals like the Weatherman Underground and the SDS werent hippies. The whole hippie movement was based around sporadic compulsive behavior. live for the moment, be in the moment. thats what i see anyway. it wasnt around the music or the drugs. (the the Grateful Dead definitly helped to catalyze the hippie peace movement). The most conservative person could adore hippie music and and weed and mushrooms etc etc and that wouldnt mean a damn thing about personal politics. interesting format tho
