I can't take them, but I'm going to point a link to you from my own LJ.

(I wish I could! I really do!)

Thank you so much for the help, and the pass-along. It looks like it's at least bearing hits. P.S., I've posted another post with kitten pics - http://redhawke.livejournal.com/220381.html

Sadly, simplykimberly is going through her own stuff right now. I talked to her a few weeks ago, and she gave me some helpful suggestions, but cannot take them on at this time.

How old are they? Male, female? Do you have photos? I lost my last kitty a few months ago, and I've been considering a pair of kittens.

One male, one female. A couple of photos are in this post. I'm working on culling out some others. SHadow is a black Balinese-looking kitten, Callie is a calico. Shadow is the more adventurous one, goes exploring whenever he can. He absoluely LOVES bellyrubs, which from my very limited experience seems rare in cats. Callie is shyer, and I'd say she has a significant amount of Ragdoll in her. When we pick her up, she just lolls in our arms.

FTR, I will not only pay for startup costs, including full vaccinations, spaying, and other incidentals, whatever food we have left over (they like gooshyfood, friskies seems a favorite, but also were started on dry food, so switching over, if that's your intent, should be no problem), but will transport them pretty much anywhere I can drive to, which at this point includes most of the Southwest United States.

Cost isn't an issue for me-- I would never adopt friends unless I could afford to take good care of them. A few other questions, though-- do you have a feel for how old they are? Are they little trained? FIV tested?

Would you be in a position to keep them until next weekend? I wasn't really thinking about getting kittens for a couple of months, and it will take me a few days to kittenproof my loft.

(P.S. Spotted this via wordweaverlynn on Twitter.)

1. They are around 12 weeks. We found them 4 weeks ago, and the vet estimated them then at 8 weeks.

2. They are fully vaccinated (first set of shots), and FIV- and FeLV-negative. The vet gave them a full health check, and, other than heartworms, fleas and ear mites (all dealt with since), they had a 100% clean bill of health.

3. Presuming you mean litter-trained, yes, they are. They're a little messy with it, but I strongly suspect it's because it's a relatviely small box, in an enclosed space.

4. I suspect, if we know they're going to a good home (which I believe is not an issue), we could almost certianly keep them for another week. Part of the stress around the house is not knowing what to do with them.

Posted your plight in my LJ.

Have you tried "Furry Friends Rescue"? I used to foster for them in the Bay Area.

(Came here by way of britgeekgirl.)

Thank you so much!

I've heard of Cat House, and it's a last option, but, well, not to be picky, but (a) these kittens have shown themselves to be very human-oriented, once they get over their fear, and (b) they were feral-born, and grew up their first month or two facing off against some very tough characters in our neighborhood. I'm concerned how they'd do if they weren't adopted. I have no doubt that they'd acclimate to a multi-cat household (they're already showing interest in out current three cats), but being in a field with several tens of other, mostly feral cats, would likely revert them to their previous feral, fear-borne status.

All that said, we're willing, if it comes to it, to consider Cat House. :-,

Furry Friends Rescue isn't Cat House, though they do work with them. FFR is a no-kill foster group in the Fremont area. They wouldn't send non-feral kittens there.

I hope someone picks them up from you. They are so darned cute!

Thanks for the contact, it really helps. Unfortunately, their VM told me their intake program is completely full, and taking no more cats at this point. Again, thank you so nmuch, though, for the idea and the thoughts.
