down, down the rabbit hole...

I'm tired. I just got "released" from a mental crisis, and I'm tired as HELL. My biggest problem right now is there is no way to dig upward, and I'm too tired anyway. And so I sleep and that makes things worse because I'm further behind, and I'm too tired to run to catch up. The metaphor that is often used is that of falling, generally followed by ( Read more... )

When you can't see the bottom, claw for the sides. If things aren't going to stop getting worse, find ways to climb up the sides by seeing what's good enough for now.

what is the figurative bottom? for that matter, what are the figurative sides? what should I be clawing for? how does all this translate from metaphor to something that can save me?

And how much energy will this take?

The bottom is as bad as you think it can get; worst case scenario. "It can only get better from here, because it can't get any worse." Unfortunately, it gets deeper the more imaginative you are.

The sides? Trying to slow your descent; if things aren't going to get better on their own, start pushing against the trend now. When 90% of stuff is bad, it sometimes becomes necessary to blindly focus on the remaining 10% for a while. It doesn't work forever, but it can be enough to gain back that momentum, that feeling that the other bad things CAN get better as well.

You're tired now, but regain some of your strength (get some rest somehow, sleep, day off, something). You can allow yourself to fall a little bit to allow yourself the ability to fly back up. Recharge, and CHARGE. Sometimes you just have to force yourself to FLY UPWARDS. And sometimes the only way to get the strength to do that, is to fall a little bit more.
