Crazed cat-lady update
There's a little cat (whom I've christened 'the splodgy cat' because I lack imagination) who drops by in the mornings for breakfast, he's terribly shy but today (after months of patiently trying to entice him) he came up to me to be stroked. Bee and I went to bookclub yesterday, it was lovely to see people, sorry we had to race off at the last minute to catch the last train. Which we missed. So then we took a train to Manchester instead, woke everyone up and stayed up too late chatting. Meeting was abruptly cancelled on Monday - how is it that any deadlines your supervisor's set are immovable and terribly urgent, but if it's something they have to do for you the timeframe is indistinct? I've had this young Russian student, Nadja, staying at mine during school holidays and she's very sweet and normally very responsible. I've just received a panicked call from her housemistress asking me if she was here - 'no, but she's welcome to stay?' Ah the naughty little thing has run off! I've just been for a run (still 5.3km) and this time I pretty much ran it without occasionally slowing to walk for a couple of minutes. So I feel triumphant, I practically ran the whole thing! I must have smashed my time! Why I'll be at the Olympics in no time, I am the epitome of speed and good health! I check my time... a whole 3 minutes faster. ( Read more... ) -

I am thoroughly pissed off. I've just spent the day trying to sort out my laptop, the screen had started flickering and was going straight to battery. So I went to get a new charger at a local shop, but asked that they test first and see if that was indeed the case (I didn't want to buy anything unnecessary - or it could have been something worse) ( Read more... )
