Damn, thanks for posting. What a good read! Now I want everyone to write about their job/specialty/training. Except none would be as interesting as this.
Thanks, that was interesting. I have other friends (plus my dad) that are doctors and have gone through all of that, but it's always interesting to see other perspectives.
So did you get into OB-GYN specifically because there are aspects of what it's like as a job that you prefer, or because it's a kind of medicine that you like, or for some other reason? (I know we chatted about this somewhat when I was there, but I'm not sure that I asked that specific question.)
MFM Is Maternal Fetal Medicine. Doctoring specific to the complex interactions between mom and baby.
Cerclage is when you put a stitch in / around the cervix to prevent it from opening up too soon. If a woman is having or has had pre-term deliveries - it gives just a small bit of resistance and support to prevent her from going into labor before baby is ready.

Um, just none of it relates to what was happening to you.
We're not getting those four years back.

Two: you do what a lot of my clients do: you use your speak when you have interested readers who don't speak it fluently. So:
Three: What's MFM? And what's a cerclage?
Four: Because I'm interested, for real.
