-Tonight is a party at work that I've been the main lead on for over a month. I will be extremely relieved when this week is over. That said, dang, I look cute today. (What? I'm a host. I have to look the part.)

-Guillermo del Toro is probably one of the coolest people in the world.

James Franco looks like he's about to bust out some Kurt Weill up in that bitch. It's fierce, but that blue shadow is doing nothing for his eyes.

Also, yeah dude, you look super cute today. ^_^

Wow. That bullying article hit so very many of my buttons.

And I'm glad he's so magnanimous towards his tormentors, but I will never be. I refuse to believe that a hug and a cookie will change the behavior of a budding sociopath. I still have a lot of anger towards those little bastards who hurt me, and don't feel there was any way to redeem them. They should have been punished, but no one really is willing to go after these bullies the way they ought to be gone after.

I really don't know how to stop bullying from happening. I don't know what punishment, if any, would be successful.

So many messages are undercut and contradicted by other influences, so I don't know how the message of "treat others with respect" will be assimilated.

That's what I find so utterly frustrating - like those evil little brats who were hassling rm this morning. Trying to sit them down to have a serious discussion of boundaries and respect would only get them to laugh in your face. What would it take to trigger empathy? Fear? Pain? Appealing to their better instincts probably won't work, as I believe most 11-14 year olds simply don't have better instincts yet.

(I'm a bad person to make suggestions about how to handle stuff like this - even close to 20 years later, I don't have enough distance to be rational and logical about it.)

Hot damn, but you are adorable, woman!

I...really can't decide how I feel about that magazine cover. I think I'd need to read the article, especially with a tagline like "the Trans-formation."

Gahd, I love Guillermo Del Toro. What a cool dude.

He produced one of the films I saw at TIFF (Los Ojos de Julia, a giallo-style Spanish thriller) and ended up having to interpret most of the Q&A when the director and main actress found they weren't as comfortable answering questions in English as they thought they'd be. After Guillermo took over, every question went like this:

Audience member: *long-winded, detailed question*
Filmmaker: *paragraph-long explanation in Spanish, of which we all sort of got the gist*
Guillermo: "He says, 'Fuck yeah.'"
