I remember my first trip to El Paso. I looked across the Rio Grande and thought "this looks like those pictures of third world countries I used to see in the Weekly Reader".

I was always struck by the fact that no one in el paso had grass in their yards.... just different colored rock to make patterns and walk ways. so odd.
